ONE vintage WWII 1940s photo from a GI with an US ARMY 800th Engineer Forestry Company .
This is an official photo from the 800th Company photographers.  In  1954 the 800th Engineer Forestry Company published a 75 page booklet of their WWII history including some of the photos I'm listing..  Go to Google books and you can see the entire book by searching for 800th Engineer Forestry Company.  ( eBay doesn't allow links so I can't add the exact link)

"On 19 April 1943 we packed up and moved to Camp Kilmer NJ sailing from NYP 0 E on the 29th Landing at Oran Alberia North Africa ll May 1943 the company sweated out its two most difficult months at Gobbler Knob on Goat Hill while awaiting higher headquarters decision as to where we were most needed and collecting our equipment which had been landed at ports from Casablanca to Bizerte

In the evening of the 5th of July we folded our tents like the Arabs and stole away to the Eastward by 40 & 8 and truck convoy to Ain Draham Tunisia NA where we produced our first and hardest million board feet of lumber. "
