Additional Information
Unable to hold down a steady job, Andy Sargentee (Jeff Bridges) becomes an adult filmmaker in a bid to get rich quick. When his ex-wife remarries into money, his pride his hurt and he wants to spoil their son in an attempt to show her what sheÆs missing. On hand to lend a hand are friends, Barney (Tim Blake Nelson), Otis (William Fichtner), Moose (an uncharacteristically camp Ted Danson) and Some Idiot (played with understated dignity by Joe Pantoliano). THE MOGULS is a quirky, light-hearted romp that has its fill of awkward moments and sexual innuendo, in a similar vein to THE INDEPENDENT (starring Jerry Stiller as a failed B-movie director). The comedy payoff comes from seeing the residents of Butterface Field--a sleepy town thatÆs supposed to represent Middle America--react to the seemingly incongruous task of putting together an adult movie. Jeff Bridges revisits the hippy side he displayed so brilliantly in THE BIG LEBOWSKI, this time in the form of Andy Sargentee, a well-intentioned director of adult movies.
