The ChallengeFort Single Swing climbing frame has a pent lookout tower that is perfect for letting children’s imaginations run wild! Our pressure treated climbing frame features monkey bars, a climbing wall/ladder, scramble net, tower, swing and slide, which will keep your little ones entertained for hours on end! Let their inner creators climb over the firey lava floor, or the choppy waters to board the pirate ship. To fuel their imagination to the max, it also comes with a steering wheel, a pair of handgrips, and a telescope as standard. All of our climbing frames are made form pressure treated timber to last, and ensure protection against rot and insect infestation. For peace of mind, our climbing frames are all independently safety tested, and come with large metal ground anchors to secure them in place. Your child’s safety is top priority!
We know that your children will run, jump and climb enthusiastically over the climbing frame which is why you need to ensure your climbing frame is secure. Unlike the flimsy plastic pegs, some other companies offer, we supply you with sturdy 530mm long galvanised metal ground anchors. These anchors feature large metal disks which you bury deep within the ground to stabilise your climbing frame. This means, that unless the ground is overly soft, you won’t have to concrete your climbing frame to the ground. Unlike many manufacturers, we supply our ground anchors completely free of charge.
All our climbing frames come with pre-drilled bolt holes as standard. These are precisely drilled holes to ensure all your bolts will fit in safely and securely. Please note that we do not pre-drill screw holes in the climbing frame, this will be required during the assembly.
The safety of your children is of the utmost importance to us, therefore our climbing frames and play systems are put through rigorous independent tests to ensure that they are as safe as possible. We thoroughly check each and every feature to ensure that the climbing frame will not buckle, there is no chance of any little heads or feet becoming trapped and that there’s no snags to rip clothes or catch their skin. Add this to our strong long lasting synthetic ropes, clamp style hooks and rounded safety caps all coming as standard on our play systems and climbing frames. Our climbing frames are independently tested to comply with EN71 / Toy European Safety Standards. They are also UKCA rated. This testing includes hanging weights culminating in 200kg, 10x the average weight of a six year old, to the swing hooks where they are left for hours. They also add 100kg weights to the platforms to ensure they are strong and sturdy. To make sure your kids don’t catch their clothes or trap their feet when playing, they use gauges and toggles to assess all gaps. We’ve also tested our treated timber to ensure that the chemicals are safe to use on children’s products. Safety really is our top priority. Why would you look anywhere else? As your Climbing Frame is going to be used for years to come, we want to make sure you have a strong structure. We use multiple brace points throughout the climbing frame for added strength. We also prefer to use bolts, rather than screws, at key stress points and even pre-drill these holes to help you get the positioning exactly right and save you time. All the nuts and bolts used in this play system are safely covered up with our plastic caps (supplied as standard). This gives added protection to your child against knocks, bumps and prevents their clothes from catching. Many of our competitors attach their swings to their climbing frames via a simple bolt that has been drilled through the middle of the timber. Over time, as your children swing back and forth, the constant strain and movement will cause the timber to weaken. Our clamp style swing hooks wrap around the timber, keeping the timber in one piece, giving additional reinforcement. This method of attachment not only adds strength and safety but also makes swapping accessories simple.
We want your children to be comfortable whilst they are playing. Our swing seats are made with thick plastic that is moulded for both durability and comfort rather than the flimsy plastic wrap around seats some companies offer. We don’t use metal chains on our swings as these can become rusty over time, especially when exposed to constant rain. Chains can also easily trap your child’s hair or fingers while they are playing. We use 10mm thick twisted rope made from a synthetic long-lasting material, which has smooth welded plastic joints so are built to last. These are easily adjustable so, as your children grow, they won’t become too big for the climbing frame accessories. Many of our competitors offer slides that are not only made from thin plastic but many of them need to be built, usually arriving in three separate pieces. Our wavy slides are made from a mix of 4mm and 5mm thick plastic to create a strong rigid slide, which arrives to you in one solid piece. This eliminates the fear of a weak joint causing the slide to break while your child plays on it. Our solid slides also feature deep sides which help to prevent your little ones sliding off of the edge. Our climbing stones make scaling our climbing wall easy. The climbing stones are made from professional grade materials rather than cheap plastic as this can crack, become sharp and your children can catch their skin on them. By using the same materials like those used on professional climbing walls, you can be confident that your children will be safe while they play. We include a pair of handgrips, a steering wheel and a telescope with this climbing frame to let their imagination run wild! Become a champion racing car driver with the fully movable steering wheel, search for the Lost Island of Awesome Treasure as a pirate with the telescope, or why not conquer Mount Olympus by climbing up with the extra handgrips?
Unlike our competitors, we only use high-quality spruce timber on our wooden products rather than cheap pine or mixed timber. Why do we use slow grown spruce rather than the much cheaper knotty pine alternatives? Spruce is considered more stable as it expands and contracts less than pine. This stability means that the spruce timbers in our garden buildings minimise splits from appearing as the timber changes along with the weather. We responsibly source all our timber, where it grows slowly in the cold northern regions. We all know the old adage of counting the rings to see how old a tree is, well our timber grows slower and takes longer to get to size meaning it has more rings in it. This means it has a tighter grain, and each ring helps prevent cracks and shakes from appearing in the densely packed timber. Our wooden garden buildings and climbing frames really are built to last therefore we use only the highest quality, slow-grown spruce. Spruce is much more resilient to warps and splits compared to its cheaper alternative pine. Being a whitewood, it doesn’t discolour anywhere near as much as pine so it is also much more aesthetically pleasing for a garden structure. Considered more stable, less knotty and resinous than pine, spruce will also produce a lot less sap. It is also less dense meaning it is not as susceptible to mould and rot.
All of our timber Climbing Frames are fully pressure treated as standard, to ensure it lasts. We take the pre-cut lengths of timber and place them in a large pressure treatment tank, where the timbers are impregnated with a non-toxic preservative. We add a colourant during this process, giving the timber a rich brown colour. By pressure treating the timber, we can offer a genuine 10-year guarantee against rot and insect infestation. We only suggest that you apply a good quality water repellent to prolong the longevity of the timber. Many other companies simply dip treat their timber. If the product is only dip treated, you would need to completely dismantle the whole thing and treat each individual part, each and every year, which would frankly waste your valuable time and money.

Installation - We do not offer installation. All our garden structures have been designed for the DIY market and supplied with full pictorial instructions.
Natural Timber Properties - Despite the care we take in selecting the very best Timber available, it can still be unpredictable as its very nature is to be porous and swell up when it gets wet. Any wooden product will do this throughout its life, but there are a few things you can do to help limit this movement:
Water Repellent Treatment - We would recommend that you use an appropriate water repellent treatment. This helps minimise the amount of moisture that the timber can absorb and thus minimises the risk of any major movement. (Please note: water repellent treatment is not the same as pressure treatment)
Regular Seasonal Maintenance - Whether you opt to build your product yourself, do not be afraid to tighten the odd bolt here and there. Your product is a long-term investment, so it is only right to give it some love and care from time to time. Make sure that it is properly treated before the rainy months.
Fixings Included - We include all the screws, nails and fixings that you will need to put your climbing frame together. This eliminates the need to worry about the type of screws or the length of nails you might need to get started – it will all be with your delivery.
Foundation - It is recommended that you place the play system on a level surface at least 2m from any structure or obstruction such as a fence, garage, house, overhanging branches, laundry lines or electrical wires. Do not position the play system over concrete, asphalt or any other hard surface or near to any water hazards.
Safety - All our climbing frames are independently safety tested to comply with EN71 / Toy European Safety Standards. They are also UKCA rated. Our climbing frames are for outdoor domestic use only, under adult supervision, and are only suitable for children over 36 months.
Fully Pressure Treated - Climbing frames are fully pressure treated, increasing the longevity of the frame. All full lengths of timber are pre-cut and then pressure treated, ensuring all exposed timber edges are protected, reducing the likelihood of rot and insect infestation. Pressure treatment forces the wood preservative into the timber rather than just covering the exterior (dip treatment) like many companies still do.
No Bespoke Sizes - All our products are sold as advertised and we do not do bespoke sizes. Our climbing frames range come in different shapes and sizes you can choose from. This allows us to ensure consistent quality of our products and precise cuts made by our machines.
Delivery Service - All our products are delivered using our own fleet of vehicles, not sub-contractors. Our deliveries take place Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 7:00 pm. Please find more information on how your delivery will be carried out on our website and in your order confirmation.
