Signed: "Henry Van Dyke" Condition: very good, old folds Henry van Dyke Jr was an American author, educator, diplomat and Presbyterian clergyman. President Woodrow Wilson appointed him minister to the Netherlands and Luxembourg in 1913, just prior to the start of World War I. A graduate of Princeton University where he served as a professor of English literature between 1899-1923. Chaired the committee that wrote the first Presbyterian printed liturgy, "The Book of Common Worship of 1906". Among his most noted writings are "The Other Wise Man" (1896) and "The First Christmas Tree" (1897). Van Dyke officiated at Mark Twain's funeral April 23, 1910.
