The HARDY ULTRADISC UDLA fly reel is the lightest disc drag reel Hardy has ever produced and replaces the Ultralite CADD reel. The Ultradisc UDLA Reel emphasizes only what you need in a disc drag fly reel. With an innovative frame design, the large arbor reel moves much of the structural strength to the center of the drum, which enables Hardy to use less material in the Ultradisc UDLA reel and still retain mechanical strength. The enclosed line guard system keeps within the reel cage the ultra-thin fly lines and running lines as well as leader-only systems popular in modern river fishing – they won't spill out as can happen with a half-frame design. The multi-pad drag system is scaled to the size of the reel. (Smaller models max out at about four pounds, the intermediates at about six, and the larger models reach about eight pounds). The Rulon disc drag system is also unregulated, which means you can make fine adjustments to the drag pressure across a wide swath of possibilities.
