VPI Turntable & Thorens TD-124 Bearing Upgrade & Replacement Service
A smooth running bearing is very important to the performance of a turntable.
So this ad looks to replace the old steel balls in the bearing with a high quality, tight tolerance, durable ceramic balls
It also upgrades the original "fixed bearing" idea to a new "free-rolling" bearing for even wear distribution and friction reduction
This helps lubricate the entire surface of the ball instead of wearing down a single point
I and a few others have tested this extensively on a VPI SDS and Phoenix Engineering Speed Controller; with the rolling ceramic ball, the speed is 1-2 rpm faster than original before adjusting down, meaning the ball is rolling much smoother and with less resistance.
Ceramic balls have a wear life 5 to 10x that of steel ball bearings so you won't have to worry about it for at least the next 15 years

In addition to less wear, there is also less noise a better accuracy in sound.
You won't have that problem where the table just doesn't sound right all of a sudden during a session.
I have so far upgraded the VPI Scout 1, Scoutmaster, Scout Prime, Aries, HRX, TNT tables, Classic 1 & 3, and Avenger
I have also upgraded the Thorens TD-124 with new bearing and thrust pad, replacing those very old parts.

*For those also interested in replacing the thrust plates in the VPI table platters, I have a remedy for it.
Please don't hesitate to ask.
** The only piece that needs to be shipped to me is the bearing shaft on the table side. If you are interested in also the platter upgrade, then that will also need to be sent.
*** You can also find more info via "vasnyinc repair" . I fix cartridges also.
