As you may know, Lapis lazuli is a rock, which means it’s an aggregate of several minerals. This ancient gem contains three minerals in varying amounts: lazurite, calcite, and pyrite. Sometimes, it also contains one or more of the following: diopside, amphibole, feldspar, and mica. The pyrite is sort of a gold color, calcite can be pistachio or sea foam colored (light green), blue, orange or whitish, diopside tends to be green, amphibole quartz can be clear to beige or blue and feldspar can be various colors, to beige, green, pink, etc. So, the blue of lazurite in a lapis lazuli stone is often mixed with these other minerals and thus is not a pure blue. Lapis Lazuli Artisan-Made Stretch Bracelet w 18 10mm beads. This lapis lazuli bracelet was made by an artist friend of mine in Sag Harbor, NY and anyone who loves a deep, rich blue will love this. The inner measurement of the bracelet is about 6 1/8", It is a stretch bracelet but one should measure the wrist before purchase. My wrist is about 5 3/4" and you can see in the photos how it fits (somewhat loose, but actually perfect.I have only worn this bracelet a handful of times, but it is really nice, with sizeable, 10mm beads. The large beads lend themselves to being used as prayer beads or relaxation/meditation beads with which one holds the strand of beads and takes each bead between the fingers, working one's way around and around, reciting a certain calming word or one with spiritual significance on each bead, helping to calm the mind and focus it to prevent thoughts from flying off in unwanted places.
