Designed by Igor Carl Fabergé for the Franklin Mint, this is a gorgeous crystal and glass figurine of a polar bear, atop an iceberg and holding a tasty goldtone metal fish for his supper.  He has light blue eyes and a very cheeky smile!

Igor Carl Agathonovich Fabergé is a designer of "Haute Couture" and jeweller born in Levashovo, near Saint Petersburg, in 1907.  He fled Russia with his mother and his brothers in crossing the frozen Gulf of Finland in December 1918.  The whole family went to Switzerland where Igor Carl became a talented embroiderer, making very original evening dresses. He also created fantastic jewellery and objects.  Igor Carl Fabergé was contacted by the Franklin Mint company which wanted to produce small objects. He made the designs and the items were then sold under his signature - this lovely polar bear is one of those special items.

It stands 8cm in height, 10cm in length and is 6cm across the widest part of the base.  This vintage figurine is in very good pre-loved condition without any damage from previous ownership.  The eyes and the fish are affixed by glue and are original to the sculpture.

This piece is signed on the base, 'Igor Carl Fabergé France' and weighs 670g (1.4 pounds).  It does not come in the original packaging, but will be safely packaged for its journey.
