Large Ironstone Jug / Pitcher

with Hunting Dogs (losses)

From estate storage a large
ironstone jug or pitcher with
two pairs of hunting dogs in
heavy three dimensional relief
on either side of the vessel.

“TO HO” was the halt command
given by hunters to their dogs.

Size: 8 1/2” high

Date: 1825 -1840

Mark: Mason’s Patent Ironstone China
backstamp with applied TO HO wafer.

The impressive jug unfortunately
suffers from losses to two dog heads
and a re-glued break at the rim.

Without doubt in the right hands the
restoration of this rare and important jug
can bring it back to its former glory.
