Born in Moscow in the family of the famous artist Semyon Chuikov, author of painting "The Daughter of the Soviet Kyrgyzstan." from 1954 to 1960 he studied at the Moscow State Art Institute of V.I. Surikov. from 1960 to 1962 he taught at the Art College of Vladivostok. In 1968 he joined Union of Artists. In 1988, some works of Ivan Chuikov were sold at «Sotheby's» auction in Moscow.
