A comical pair of silver sugar tongs modelled as a harlequin holding two hoops above his head formed from snakes. Very finely cast detail. The tongs are formed from stylised acanthus leaves. Hallmarked for London with the lion passant and makers mark for Thomas Dee & John Fargus, no date letter but c.1830.

They measure 11cm (4 5/16") long and 4.5cm (2 3/4") wide. They weigh 45g / 1.4ozt.

In excellent condition, the hinge is nice and firm, minimal handling wear; the detail all still lovely and crisp and the marks are clear.
