WASHINGTON AND THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

(ESMOND WRIGHT)

The history of George Washington, America's first success story, is the backbone of the history of the American Revolution.  As Commander in Chief of the ragged Minutemen this Virginian planter trounced the English Army; the new government of 1787 which formulated the Constitution was built around him; and his two terms as President and the Farewell Address of 1796 permanently shaped the future of his country.

In this critical study professor Edmund Wright unfolds, through the story of Washington's rise to power, the record of the bitter conflict with the government of George III, of the secession and the long search for unity among the Federal states.

This 1973 edition paperback, published by ‘Penguin’, is in very good overall condition although there are some signs of wear to the cover in the form of minor bumps and knocks to the edges and corners (see photograph).  All pages are present, tightly bound and free from tears, creases and significant marks although they do display very light age-related discolouration in the form of yellowing to the page edges.  The book runs to 206 pages (18cm x 11cm) and includes a working index.
