This is an Antique Tramp Art Ornate Memorial Cross in Frame - 19th Century Folk Art!

This piece is an extremely intricate example of the folk art created mostly by transients with discarded cigar boxes and scrap pieces of wood.

Framed under glass in a mahogany frame the Paper Art shows layered intricately cut pieces of paper in the shape of a Cross with striking detail on velvet! Very Unique. During the 1860s and 1870s this craft was popular in many forms sometimes paper scraps, lace or material scraps as well as other medium were layered to create a dimensional effect.

The frame is approximately 22 x 16. Normal age wear noted to the frame. The glass is in good vintage condition but seems to be a bit dinghy underneath.

There is news paper under the old wood but will not take it apart to check dates.

A very unique and interesting piece of Tramp Art to add to your home!

Ask questions..I will reply. Request additional photos...I will send. By no means am I an expert on any of the items I sell. I do my best to represent them in a clear, concise and honest way within the limited confines of my knowledge. I do research before making any assumptions, but still, in the end, sometimes a statement remains an assumption and I will present it as such. Please ask for specifics before bidding if you do not find what you need to know in my description. Use Ebay's magnification program on each picture and study them thoroughly.

Thank you and stop back. Have a great day. :)
