The amethyst belongs to the quartz family, has a hardness of 7 and is revered by almost Allen peoples.

The name comes from the Greek Amethystos,

which means something like: not drunk.

Amethyst is said to have a calming effect on the nerves and heart and improve the ability to concentrate. It is also said to help with migraines and stress-related tension. Placed under the pillow protects against nightmares and ensures a peaceful sleep. The skin's connective tissue is said to be activated by the amethyst, which helps the skin to retain moisture better.
