Sony SL-3000E

The Sony SL-3000E is Sony's first battery-powered and portable Betamax recording device. It is identical to the Sanyo VTC 3000P. It has various connection options. The recorder does not have its own tuner component and therefore relies on the external tuner TT-3000E (or Sanyo VRF 300P) for home use. The tuner not only provides power to the SL-3000E, but also offers the correct connections (audio/video input and output, antenna connection). The recorder belongs to the "piano-keys" models due to its buttons. With dimensions of 296x127x345mm, it is relatively bulky and with its weight of 9.1 kg, it is also relatively heavy by today's standards. However, at the time, the SL-3000 was considered a compact, light "revolution". The recorder with tuner has audio dub (background sound), a microphone input, headphone output, camera connection, line-in and -out for audio and video, antenna input and output, and an indicator to read the battery status.

The SL-3000E is equipped with the Sony camera connection, so Trinicon cameras can be connected. For collectors and Betamax fans, this is an interesting device. However, those looking for a portable Betamax recorder for daily use should opt for the SL-F1 instead.
