A 4 1/2" tall cylinder shape beautiful TURQUOISE AQUA/MARINE colored antique WORM SYRUP patent (quack) medicine bottle. This is a great antique bottle as it is embossed "1 bottle killed 100 worms" and 'children cry for it"! It is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating it well back into the 1800's.

Bottle FULLY embossed : "BUMSTEAD'S / WORM / SYRUP / ONE BOTTLE / HAS KILLED / 100 WORMS / CHILDREN / CRY FOR IT / JUST TRY IT / PHILADA."

Condition: This bottle is in sparkling clean condition. It may have a just trace of patina or age wear but there is not anything specifically wrong with it. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.

Age: This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand-blown into mold bottle (Blown-In-Mold = BIM) with a tooled-top, ca. late 1800's.

Not a commonly seen antique bottle, and with great sounding embossing on it; "CHILDREN CRY FOR MORE", suggesting it had to of been laced with a narcotic such as opium or morphine? WHEN was the last time children cried for more of any kind of medicine, let alone worm syrup?! But narcotic withdrawals would cause this condition. It is also embossed "1 BOTTLE KILLED 100 WORMS", well a narcotic ingredient would of done that too, or maybe it even had a mildly toxic substance in it, enough to kill 100 worms! Just about as great of sounding patent medicine bottle as we've ever seen, several years ago we even sold one of these bottles to the World Health Organization (WHO) as it even got their attention, check it out!
