A fine Worcester porcelain tea canister of ovoid shape with vertical faceting. Decorated in an oriental style with panels of underglaze wet blue ground reserving a circular flower device in red enamel reserving white petals and gilt centre and gilt foliage. Alternating with white panels painted with chrysanthemums and prunus blossom in a kakiemon palette of red, green, blue and turquoise enamel with gilt accents. Fretted square mark to the base, c.1770.

It measures 11.8cm (4 5/8") high and 7.5cm (3") wide.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. It has a fine hairline at the rim which appears to be from manufacture. Minimal handling wear. It is missing its original cover as is usual but comes with a very finely turned stained wooden replacement for optional use. Below the alternating panels is a patterned blue frieze which has suffered some running during firing.
