DEAD MAN'S GOLD: Jim Thorton, having found gold, has sent for Lash. But when he and Fuzzy arrive they find him dead. Lash knows that Conway and his gang are involved but that they have a boss. Lash thinks he knows who it is and sets a trap to flush him out.................................Lash LaRue's skill with a bullwhip coupled with his uncanny resemblance to Humphrey Bogart propelled him to stardom as "The Cheyenne Kid" during the 1940's. After this initial success, LaRue went on to star in many western movies and several television series providing thrilling entertainment for audiences during the 1940's and 1950's. LaRue was born in Michigan in 1917 and graduated from St. John's Military Academy in Los Angeles. Dressed in black from head to toe, six-guns and bullwhip by his side, LaRue proved no outlaw was a match for this tough-fisted marshal. His portrayal of a cocky but silent crime fighting western hero who did not hesitate to brandish his weapons in the name of justice personified the battle between good and evil. And, in the end, Lash always got his man. His side kick in many of these vehicles was Al St. John, a silent-film comic who appeared in dozens of Mack Sennett's early Keystone comedies and would eventually create and star in his own movies for other studios. With the advent of sound, he became a character actor in westerns and later the bewhiskered sidekick "Fuzzy" of several B-western heroes like Buster Crabbe, Robert Livingston and Lash La Rue.
