Antique Victorian Spectacular Master Salter/Pepper 1897 Diamond Jubilee.
A fabulous gothic silver salter made by famous silversmith James Gerrard, of Gerrads .Commisioned by the Worshipful Company Of Salters. In commemoration of Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee in 1897.
The salter is hexaganol in shape with each face of the lid pierced with alternating trefoil and diamond designs,
The foot rim and the rim around the lid are decorated with ornate trefoil borders in the gothic style.
Bearing the shield of the worshipful company of salters with the cypher of Queen Victoria
with intertwined VRI for Victoria Regina et Imperatrix.
Insired by a renaissance baluster shaped foxe salt that gifted to Corpus Christi college Oxford in 1517
Weight approxgrams 190.5grams or around 6 ounces.
Fully hallmarked.
