This lot contains nine 10-inch 78 RPM records, all in the jazz or swing genre, and all featuring Benny Goodman. Most  of the sides are considered "hot" enough for inclusion in Brian Rust's iconic Hot Jazz Discography and/or Charles Delaunay's "New Hot Discography", so relevant discographic information is also provided (in parentheses) where available. Also, all are instrumental except where vocalists are specified (also in parentheses). And all are credited to "Benny Goodman and his Orchestra" except where a different label credit is given.

All nine records showed up for the first picture, then they are shown in pairs or individually, both sides, in the following order:

Capitol # 376 - "Moon-Faced, Starry-Eyed" and "It Takes Time." (Both sides recorded in March 1947, vocals by Johnny Mercer on both sides.)

Capitol # 15208 - "I Hate to Lose You (I'm so Used to You now)" (vocals by Emma Lou Welch); and "On a slow boat to China" (vocals by Al Hendrickson).

Capitol # 374 - "Whistle Blues" and "Lonely Moments." (Both sides recorded in March 1947.)

Capitol Americana # A-40022 - "Happy Blues" (vocal duet by Benny Goodman and Stan Kenton); and "Them There Eyes" by the Hollywood Hucksters. (Both sides recorded May 29, 1947, band members also include red Norvo, Charlie Shavers, Dave Cavanaugh and Red Callender.)

Capitol # B-20124 - "Lazy River" by the Benny Goodman Duo (recorded March 7, 1947); and "No, Baby, No" (recorded in May, 1947, vocals by Benny Goodman.)

Okeh # 6590 - "A String of Pearls" (recorded February 5, 1942) and "Jersey Bounce" (recorded January 23, 1942)

Okeh # 6606 - "My Little Cousin" (recorded February 5, 1942, vocals by Peggy Lee) and "A Zoot Suit" (vocals by Benny Goodman, recorded January 23, 1942).

Okeh # 6474 - "Let's Do It" (recorded October 21, 1941, vocals by Peggy Lee) and "The Earl" (recorded September 25, 1941).

Parlophone (UK) # R-2838 - "If I Had You" and "Limehouse Blues" by the Benny Goodman Sextet. (Both sides recorded October 28, 1941.)

Two observations about condition. First, "The Earl" has a chip at the edge that makes it difficult to position the needle without missing the first few notes of the music. Second, the Hollywood Hucksters record has a 1-inch hairline crack that is both visible and audible on both sides. And, third, "No, Baby, No" has a half-inch hairline crack that causes light ticking for the first few revolutions.

The other records all fall broadly within or close to the VG+ range, still nice and shiny and not a lot of visible surface wear of any great significance. They play through with no skips or jumps on my Audio-Technica turntable, and mostly just typical light background noise, with some scattered clicks or pops or ticking. Because of variations in tracking ability, filtering technology and needle weights, I can offer no guarantees as to how well they will play on your equipment. Please also check the pictures for any label damage or inscriptions or stickers.

International Buyers – Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. Customs fees are normally charged by the shipping company or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are not additional shipping charges. We won't under-value merchandise or mark the item as a gift on customs forms. Doing that is against U.S. and international laws.

COMBINED SHIPPING: See our seller list for other interesting and unusual items, in fact bid on several and you might save on shipping and handling. If you buy multiple items, and if it's feasible and cost-effective for us to ship the items together, we will gladly consider requests to combine shipping at a reduced cost. Just e-mail us, and we can provide combined shipping cost estimates on a case-by-case basis. Depending on weight and other considerations, we typically offer full shipping rate for the first item, then 50 cents or $1.00 per item. And if you are purchasing multiple items, please make the payment as a single payment, rather than trying to pay for each item separately. Oh, and this may sound obvious, but we can't reduce the shipping charges for items on which we offer free shipping.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING COSTS: If the eBay auto-calculator is not responding, or if you think our shipping costs are too high, please contact us prior to bidding to determine your shipping options and costs. Repeat, prior to bidding, please.

FEEDBACK: Because of abuses we've experienced in the past, we have totally given up on the eBay feedback system, so we neither give nor expect feedback. Please, therefore, do not contact us after the auction asking us to leave feedback. If you ever have a problem with an item you purchase from us, please contact us directly about it before giving negative feedback or seller ratings, and especially before invoking eBay's dreaded Grand Tribunal in processes like "Return Requests" or "Opening an Item Not as Described Case." No one is perfect, and we occasionally mis-describe something, or an item arrives late or gets damaged in the mail, but we are always quick to respond to a problem and set it straight in the most mutually agreeable way.
