Kazuyuki Ohtsu (1935-)
A woodcut artist born in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. In 1958 he became an assistant to Kiyoshi Saito, and was in charge of printmaking for 40 years until Saito's final years. During that time, he held two major exhibitions of his own, but after Saito's death, he began his art activities in earnest. Since then, he has held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Japan. Although Otsu's work is somewhat reminiscent of Saito's prints, particularly the snowy landscapes of rural Japan, Ohtsu has been developing his own unique imagery of serene settings.
