Description

Mulan, original pencil layout drawing of a fearful Mulan knowing that Shang has found out she is a woman used in the production of the 1998 Walt Disney animated feature film Mulan, about 4 by 6 inches on a 10 1/2 by 13 inch sheet of animation paper, in excellent condition.  The drawing is unsigned but was drawn by Tom Shannon who was the Layout Supervisor in Los Angeles on this film.  He worked at Disney for over 20 years as a layout artist and would have created this drawing to illustrate character movement in the sequence of the script following the defeat of the Huns that was part of a workbook assigned to him.  Tom Shannon's job was normally to develop visual story details, backgrounds, and camera instructions before the final script was approved and animation began. He worked on many Disney films including Aladdin, Atlantis:The Lost Empire, Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Lion King, and Mulan.  This drawing comes from an estate sale of Tom Shannon held a few years ago.

Please see my other auctions for three additional images of Mulan that were drawn as part of the sequence of Mulan's reactions to Shang finding out she was in fact a woman.
