Vintage Mailway 1950's Letter Opener & Letter Weight Scale Metal Pat. Pending

This piece can be used as a letter opener and scale. To use as a letter scale, lay it on desk and stand the envelope in the slot at end of the handle. If the knife tips, the mail is over one ounce and requires extra postage. If it does not tip, the letter weighs one ounce or less. The back is marked pat pend'g. The patent was filed Sept 30 1954, and granted Nov 8 1955.
