In Goldoni's case the difference is negligible. Goldoni translated life into theatre, human weaknesses into performances, characteristics into universal masks

His own life was as an intensive masterpiece, dense with stage tricks and rich with literary polemics, like a stage animated by nobles, commoners, bourgeois, actors and primadonnas.

The theatre was Carlo Goldoni's first love: the meeting point between life and writing. 

Words are given life and humanity crystallizes in emblematic characters such as Mirandolina, la Locandiera per eccellenza (The excellent hostess), and Arlecchino servitore di due padroni (Harlequin servant of two masters), which owe their popularity to Goldoni. 

Venetian by birth but with the vocation of a free spirit, Goldoni travelled a great deal, mentally and physically.

Re-reading and re-seeing him at the theatre, it's difficult to believe his works were written two centuries ago; performed and loved all over the world, they are still fresh yet topical, profound yet unconventional, acute yet frivolous, classical yet shocking.

To celebrate the Bicentenary of Carlo Goldoni means to give homage to one of the greatest theatrical authors, and to honour the Artist who created the greatest human play of all time, reminding the world of a precious inheritance left by an authentic genius of the theatre.

An exclusive and numbered series limited in only 1793 pieces is distributed worldwide, while a similar series exists for Italy.

Expert goldsmith and silversmith masters have created the guilloché "Venezia" and the central ring, where the masks from the "Commedia dell'Arte" frame the commemoration date. 

The solid silver working is marked with a punch of antique workmanship. 

The nib is in solid 18k gold, the nib holder in ebonite, and the grip is turned.

This pen has been previously used and inked and comes complete with box and papers (Export model, black mask)
