Baulking Towers (today Painters & James Cottages, SN7 7QE), RP c.1909 Postcard. Posted in 1909 to Miss. E. Hill, Pepphard Rectory, nr. Reading, Berks.. Surely a very rare postcard!?

BAULKING THE GREEN (South side) James Cottage and Painters Cottage, Oxfordshire (formerly Berkshire?) The house looks like one 'block' was removed from the chimney stack as today it is shorter!

(Formerly listed as Baulking Towers)

Grade II Listed. The postcard has a 'Sepia' tone which doesn't quite come out in my photo.

Two cottages. Early/mid C19. Squared and coursed chalk, brown limestone ashlar dressings; old red tile roof; brick and rendered stack. Tudor Domestic style. 2 storeys; 2-window range. Label moulds over 2-light stone-mullioned cavetto-moulded windows with arched head. Windows set in projecting square bays carried above eaves level and gabled with kneelers and moulded coping stones. Gabled roof with moulded coping stones; ridge stack of 4 circular flues rendered with diaper pattern set on square brick base. Attached to each gable wall are one-storey, one-bay blocks in similar materials and style with plank doors. The elevation makes effective use of different coloured materials.
