Large Victorian Pate De Verre Amethyst Colored Goddess Cameo Brooch Gilt Setting. Dimensions: 1 14/16" by 1 1/2". Highly unusual and large cameo done with pate de verre, a process of French origins whereby ground glass is mixed with certain colors into a paste and recombined in a mold. This bust of an art nouveau or Greek figure is molded and then fused with a smooth faceted background of amethyst glass to form this cameo. This cameo is exquisite!! In great antique condition!! A lot of people are selling old stock pate de Verre cameos and repurposing them.  I am all about creating new jewelry, but this is an original setting Victorian piece!!  The Price is negotiable!!
