For sale are two vintage Japanese teacups with unique designs featuring an elephant and a fantastical creature. These cups showcase the intricate artwork and craftsmanship found in Japanese culture, making them a great addition to any collection. The artwork on these, and particularly the fantastical creature, remind me of the drawings of American artist Nancy Spero. The markings on the bottom would seem to date these to mid-century. I have seen the teapot of which these would have been part of a set, and it features a rider on an elephant. It is a figural teapot. Any part of the set is now exceedingly scarce. These are utterly charming in their own right and I imagine they could be used as little sake cups also. Or repurpose them as adorable little planters
