This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features an Edward M. Crandal patent, dated November 28, 1876.  This wire is called "Crandal's Twisted Ends Short Barb T Link Wire" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 867-B).  This wire features a wire made of a succession of links.  Links are bent in a "U", linked together and ends twisted together and bent outwards in a "T".  This is the short barbing points variation.    Sample is 18" in length, and made from four complete links.  Wire sample shows moderate to heavy pitting.  There are no broken or missing barbing points.
