เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 12 พ.ค. 2465 ที่บ้านสระทะเล ต.ย่านมัทรี อ.พยุหะคีรี จ.นครสวรรค์ บุตรนายพุฒ และนางแก้ว ก้อนจันเทศ อุปสมบทเมื่อปี พ.ศ.2489 ณ วัดสระทะเล โดยมีพระธรรมไตรโลกาจารย์ (หลวงพ่อยอด) วัดเขาแก้ว เป็นพระอุปัชฌาย์ หลวงพ่อกัน วัดเขาแก้ว เป็นพระกรรมวาจาจารย์ พระอธิการชั๊ว วัดสระทะเล เป็นพระอนุสาวนาจารย์ ได้รับฉายาว่า “ปุญฺญกาโม”
หลังบวชท่านเริ่มเรียนนักธรรมตรีและโทไปได้สักระยะ ระหว่างนั้นหลวงพ่อเดิม วัดหนองโพ ได้ไปสร้างเสนาสนะและโบสถ์อยู่ที่วัดอินทราราม (วัดของหลวงพ่อแก้ว พระอุปัชฌาย์ของหลวงพ่อเดิม) หลวงพ่อพัฒน์ ได้ไปเรียนกรรมฐานและพุทธาคมกับท่าน โดยหลวงพ่อเดิมให้ไปจำวัดอยู่กับหลวงพ่อกันที่วัดเขาแก้วซึ่งอยู่ติดกัน เพราะขณะนั้นวัดอินทรารามกำลังซ่อมสร้างเสนาสนะอยู่จึงไม่สะดวกในการพัก ท่านจึงต้องเดินไปเช้าเย็นกลับระหว่างวัดทั้งสอง เรียนวิชาอยู่เกือบสองพรรษาจึงจบ
จากนั้นได้ออกธุดงค์ไปเรียนวิชาทางเมตตามหานิยมกับหลวงพ่อชุบ วัดพระบรมธาตุทุ่งยั้ง จ.อุตรดิตถ์ และรับตำแหน่งเจ้าอาวาสรวมเป็นเวลา 6 ปีรวมเป็น 6 ปี จึงกลับมาจำพรรษาที่วัดสระทะเล ขณะนั้นโยมพ่อโยมแม่ย้ายมาซื้อที่ดินทำนาอยู่แถวบ้านห้วยด้วน(ธารทหาร) เมื่อกำนันตำบลธารทหารทราบเรื่องจึงพาโยมทั้งสองมาอาราธนาท่านให้มาช่วยพัฒนาวัด หลวงพ่อพัฒน์ก็ตอบตกลงและย้ายมาอยู่วัดธารทหาร(ห้วยด้วน) ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ.2513 เป็นต้นมาโดยไม่ย้ายไปอยู่วัดอื่นเลย

After ordination, he began to study for a period of time as a naturalist and master. During that time, Reverend Father Derm, Wat Nong Pho, went to build a sanctuary and church at Intraram Temple. (Temple of Luang Por Kaew Luang Pho Derm's preceptor) Luang Pho Phat went to study meditation and Buddhakhom with him. by Reverend Father Deem to go to the temple to stay with Reverend Father at Wat Khao Kaeo, which is adjacent. Because at that time Wat Intraram was renovating the sanctuary, it was not convenient to rest. So he had to walk back and forth between the two temples. Studied the subject for almost two years and then graduated.
After that, he went on a pilgrimage to study the great mercy with Reverend Father Chub. Wat Phra Borommathat Thung Yang, Uttaradit Province, and served as abbot for a total of 6 years, a total of 6 years, then returned to stay at Wat Sra Talay. At that time, both father and mother moved to buy land to farm in the area of Ban Huai Duan (Than Thahan). Reverend Father Phat agreed and moved to Wat Than Thahan (Huai Duan) since 1970 without moving to any other temples.
