The Tagus Golf Society was established in 1982 by a group of friends of varying nationalities, living in the Lisbon area, to provide competitive golf combined with family based, convivial activity.
Play is based at the Estoril Golf Club and many social activities have occurred there. However, the Society has also sought to find new places to play, dine and have fun and has introduced members to golf courses, restaurants, hotels and places of entertainment in the area and elsewhere (including Spain, Germany, the Algarve, UK, Madeira, Morrocco, the Douro and France).
It is all about friendship through golf and social interaction – well-travelled individuals, couples and families, who have decided to spend much or the rest of their lives in Portugal, specifically the Cascais/Estoril area.
Most members range in age from the mid 50’s to the 70’s and we are lucky to have a number of founder members, some, who in their 80’s are still able to play in and win golf tournaments. Golfing handicap spread is from the low teens to 36, but the Society welcomes younger (and even older) joiners who have the right attitude – try to play good golf, but try harder to make good friends!
