I guess these were made for the tourist trade way back in the day. Aren't they fantastic? Native flowers and plants were taken and plated with 24 karat gold and arranged into little collages. At first, I thought this was one of those vintage and antique jewelry collages. There is a little piece of ephemera there explaining the process and background. The pastedown was apparently torn and pasted down again. No harm since the front displays beautifully. It has a little Bubble Glass which I think is actually plastic. Ask the little booklet on the back explains, no two of these are the same. This one includes a Vanda orchid a Japanese money something or other tree maybe? And a palaa fern? Sorry if I misspelled any of those. As you can see, the ink from the manufacturing process was a little smudged when they produced it. Just a really great retro piece of decor. Catch is the light just beautifully
