The Vacuum Fan creates the vacuum to hold the media flat under the carriage for printing.  The distance between the media and the print head is critical for good print resolution.  The ink ejected from the print heads travels like a flashlight beam, widening with distance.  Poor print quality could mean weak vacuum.    

This part has been tested for 100% performance, cleaned and packaged.
