THE PRECIOUS DAYS

Details: "Sandra Campbell's rather brooding shyness is overcome with the help of Jay Stagliano's understanding and light-hearted persistence. Jay helps Sandra to see her slightly unconventional family (who lives aboard the Chinese junk, Pakhoi) through new eyes." (Goodreads)  192 Pages

FOR EACH OTHER

Details: "Josie Campbell and her family live in Port-au-Prince Haiti. When an American stranger arrives, the Campbells take him under their wing. Soon the flames of civil unrest are burning brightly in Haiti--what should the Campbells do?" (Goodreads) 182 Pages

FOREVER AND EVER

Details: "Sisters Josie and Sandra Campbell long to be ordinary American teenagers. Instead, thanks to their eccentric, intellectual parents, the family has lived in exotic places while their father William writes books and their mother Mary paints. Now, the siblings have convinced their parents to let them spend a year in the U.S. with their grandmother, so that Josie can experience a year of American high school and Sandra can attend college."  (Goodreads) 182 Pages

FIVE'S A CROWD

Details: "After an eventful year of school and college - a new experience for Josie and Sandra Campbell - the girls find themselves on their way to Haiti, where they are to join their parents and sail the Pakhoi, the family's Chinese junk, to New York.
Accompanied by Anna Harding McCabe, Jay Stagliano, and to Josie's annoyance, Scott Maitland, they fly to Haiti, only to learn that their parents have sold the Pakhoi and are talking of taking the family to Aruba! Sandra and Josie see their hopes of settling in Wallaceville, Indiana, and going to school like other young people go up in the air. This provokes Sandra, usually so calm and understanding, to tell her bewildered parents how selfishly they are behaving.
How the family resolves its problems to the satisfaction of all, and leaves the troubled country they all come to love, is a story only Janet Lambert could tell. No one who is acquainted with the irrepressible Campbells will want to miss this book."  (Goodreads)  157 Pages

FIRST OF ALL

Details: "Josie Campbell's freshman year at Wardham College was quite unlike anything she had experienced in all her sixteen years. Josie plunges into the busy life of the college campus, attempting to make decisions between the security of sorority living and the freedom of remaining an Independent. The story of a young girl learning the importance of "first of all, to thine own self be true."  (Goodreads)  188 Pages

THE ODD ONES

Details: "At seventeen, Josie Campbell feels everything in her life is moving too fast for her. Unsure of what to do, Josie leaves Indiana to travel to Sea Haven Island to stay with a friend of her older sister Sandra. There she writes the story of her family's vagabond life, The Odd Ones. And there she meets a kindred spirit, Nils, who has also dropped out of college to run his family's boatyard."  (Goodreads) 155 Pages

About Us:

Rivendell Antiquarian Books sells used rare, vintage and collectable books predominantly from pre 1970. We have been sellers of antiquarian books for over 20 years, and our experience helps ensure quality descriptions of our rare and collectable books. Be assured that we want your experience with Rivendell Antiquarian Books to be enjoyable and problem free.

We believe that it is a travesty to simply throw away a used book when there is little or nothing wrong with it - we believe in giving each book the chance of finding a new home. We appreciate the impact a good book can have. We know the excitement of a new page turner, or the familiar joy of an old favorite, and we find satisfaction in putting older, and often scarce books in the hands of people who have the same love for old books that we do.

Customer Service:

Rivendell Antiquarian Books is committed to ensuring each customer is entirely satisfied with their puchase and our service. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

Our books have been inspected carefully by hand by experienced book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured. If you have questions about the book before or after purchasing, please feel free to contact us!

Packaging:

We take pride in packaging our books for safe delivery, and if you check our feedback, you will see this reflected in the comments of many pleased customers. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.

Delivery:

We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you.
