HELIOS"-44-2 2/58 it has a pre-installed diaphragm ring. It allows you to select one of the fixed values: F / 2, 2.8, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16. Unlike the preset ring, the aperture adjustment ring rotates smoothly and can be used to set any intermediate value. The smooth movement of the aperture ring is useful when shooting videos. The diaphragm consists of 8 blades that form holes in the form of regular polyhedra.
The focusing ring rotates by 270 degrees (!), the movement of the ring is smooth. Aiming manually is quite convenient. During focusing, the front lens does not rotate, only the frame of the case is lengthened. HELIOS-44-2 2/58 it has a focus distance scale (only in meters) and a depth of field scale for F / 2, 4, 5.6, 8, 11, 16.
In the center of the image, the lens is quite sharp even at f / 2.0. With closed apertures, the edges and corners of the image return to normal.
Like other lenses of the HELIOS-44 family, the 44-2 version twists the background (the legendary" twisted bokeh " helios).
