Pictured above is the original 1987 Ellis Burks Rookie Card from Topps.  He debuted with the Boston Red Sox during the season and found immediate success.  Ellis Burks' rapid progress in the minors is reflected in this rookie card as he moved from Elmira to Winter Haven to New Britain.  As a guy who hit over 350 fingers with a .291 average, Ellis Burks' rookie baseball cards are invaluable.  Many cards have sold already as the former Red Sox and Colorado Rockies outfielder remains a fan favorite.  Ellis Burks is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame, but his best year came with the Rockies.  In 1996, well after these baseball trading cards were made, Ellis Burks led the National League in total bases, slugging percentage, and runs.  His rookie cards will not last, especially with the classic style from 1987 Topps.
