Lisa Fonsagrives Photography Collection

Born in Sweden, raised in Paris, and married to Irving Penn in 1950, Fonsagrives came to the United States and has been the most popular model in fashion photography for 30 years.

She posed for Man Ray, Erwin Blumenfeld, Louise Dahl Wolfe, Norman Parkinson, and Richard Avedon, and has been photographed by her first husband, Fernand Fonsagrives, fellow European immigrant Horst P. Horst, and of course her second She also posed for her second husband, Irving Penn.

The book was edited in 1997 by fashion photographer David Seidner, using a collection of photographs once owned by Lisa Fonsagrives.

The book is a tribute to the first supermodel in fashion history and a nostalgic look back at the golden age of fashion photography in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
