I was there. These are my tickets.

I am not in the ticket memorabilia business. I am simply an individual whose life has been blessed by growing up during an extraordinary time when going to a John Prine concert like this could actually change your life.

And let's not forget the venue itself…

THE BOTTOM LINE (2/11/74-1/22/2004) opened during my first year attending NYU living only a few blocks away. The iconic venues history is well documented and to this day people are well aware of its place in music history. I guess you could say I became kind of a fixture hanging out in front, checkin out the marquee to see who'd be playing next and how much money I'd have to save by not eating dinner to get to see my favorites at the best intimate music venue in New York with the greatest sound system and site lines. Both audience and artist knew that this was the Mecca for live music across a wide variety of genres.

About this show; 7/10/78 JOHN PRINE (10/10/46-4/7/20) always hit the troubadour nail right on the head for me. You could feel his humanity from his first note and you could laugh or cry all day long thinking about just one line from one of his songs. The show would be the first of perhaps a dozen more I would see of John Prine. He had just released a new record "Bruised Orange" that was produced by Steve Goodman, and it really resonated for me. I was in the midst of a break up from a wonderful lady and when I heard John play the plaintive song "If You Don't Want My Love" I thought I'd melt from sadness right there in my seat as he coaxed that one from the stage as if singing it just for me. The world without John Prine is just a poorer place and any memory I can evoke by listening to his music is as bittersweet as it is uplifting. I guess that's just "the way the world goes round." Two stubs for this amazing show.

I no longer need these physical manifestations as my memories are so vivid and my gratitude so deep but I could sure use the money now that I am a solo senior citizen having recently moved back to NJ after 50 years away.
