Tanglewood is well renowned for inexpensive instruments and has maintained a level of consistency over a number of years that has sustained continued success in a very price-dependent market sector. Their instruments are very often highly playable and capable of performing surprisingly well above their actual price.

The Tanglewood Canyon 3 bass features a 'two-over-two' machinehead arrangement, a black plastic nut, an East River humbucking pickup located between the bridge and the end of the neck and an active 9-volt 3-band EQ system. A variety of woods have been used in the construction of each bass. The bass features an ebony fingerboard fitted with abalone position markers and white side markers.

The Canyon III sports a five-piece maple and mahogany thru-neck to improve stability and sustain. The look this gives to the instrument is further enhanced by the excellent top body timbers. The Canyon III has been crafted with with a breathtaking arched spalted maple top and Mahogany has been used for the body of the instrument.
