The Association of American Railroads is engaged in an ongoing effort to keep these rules and loading patterns current with an ever changing business environment in North America. The focus is to provide the rules which will allow for the safe, uniform and economical shipping of commodities on open top rail cars. In establishing these rules, the AAR Open Top Loading Rules Committee relies on the collective effort of the Association of American Railroads, its member rail carriers, their shippers and the many vendors who provide services, material and equipment to the industry.
