The silk cocoons are in their natural state; they have been hand dyed in beautiful rich jewel toned colors. They can be made into elegant jewellery or unravelled to make silk paper.

The cocoon is spun by the silkworm in one continuous thread almost a mile long. The cocoons vary in size. Most of them are an oval shape with a hole cut in them. Each individual cocoon measures approximately 2cm - 3cm (0.75" - 1.25") long and they are quite rigid.

Uses: They can be easily cut with scissors or a craft knife, dyed, painted and sewn, used in jewellery making, textile art, mixed media projects and embellishments. You could make lampshades for your fairy lights to fairy garlands to little nemos to home décor accents… Let your imagination run wild!

Care: Occasionally the cocoons may have a little debris left behind by the moths who made them, you can easily clean this out with a cotton bud or similar if you need to. We thoroughly rinse and scour our products of residual dye.

All our products are dyed in a smoke free and pet free environment.

Colours may slightly vary from pictures owing to different screen calibrations.

Note: Your purchase provides income and self-sufficiency for hundreds of women in a co-operative enterprise in villages of India.
