Obverse: Crowned eagle with wings open (new coat of arms). Beneath eagle – year of issue. Circular inscriptions: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA (above) and 10 ZŁOTYCH 10 (beneath).
Reverse: Woman’s head left wearing a Renaissance-inspired headdress, surrounded by rays of wheat (allegory of Poland, the design is sometimes erroneously called the 'Jadwiga' design, after a Polish queen who ruled in the late 1300s. The portrait of Janina Morstinowa).
