This is a very rare picnic set made by "Amstea" in Solingen Germany.

It has a provenance letter written in the 70s that lists the original owner and approximate time this was bought.  It is estimated to be from the 1910s.  It was used by the original owner as a fishing trip dining kit.

It looks to be complete as well.  It has 4 spoons, 4 forks, 2 butter knives, 2 plates, a salt shaker, a salt/pepper shaker combo, a metal case, and 2 very early Thermos bottles.

Most of it is marked "Amstea".  The salt/pepper shakers and plates do not have markings.  The Thermos bottles are marked from USA.  The metal is aluminum.

For the age, this is all in pretty good condition.   It's over 100 years old.  Please view all pictures.

The case has some wear and a crack along the top of it (visible in photos).  It holds together just fine.

From what I can tell, Amstea had some kind of connection to the early Thermos company.  The only thing I've been able to find that was made by them is an insulating sleeve for a Thermos.

Case measures about 15" x 11" x 5"

Great display piece.  It looks to be one-of-a-kind.  I have never been able to find a set comparable to this one.
