R0232 Reference Electrode SCE HgO Saturated Glycine Mercury Electrode Lab 232 Glycine Mercury Reference Electrode
Glymercury electrode instructions for use.
1. When the glymercury electrode is in use, the rubber caps on the side and end should be pulled off first, in order to make the salt bridge solution by gravity wi a certain flow rate with the measured solution to form a pass through.
2. There should be no air bubbles in the potassium chloride solution inside the electrode, and a few potassium chloride crystals should be retained in the solution.
3. The salt bridge solution surface of the calomel electrode should be slightly higher than the surface of the measured solution to prevent the measured solution from diffusing back to the calomel electrode during measurement.
4. Because the electrode potential of the calomel electrode has a large negative temperature coefficient and thermal hysteresis, temperature fluctuation should be prevented during measurement. Precise measurement should be at constant temperature.
5. If the measured solution is found to be contaminated on the liquid complex part of the calomel electrode, the scale should be scraped off at any time.
6. Glymercury electrode should not be used in the environment above 70℃.
7. When potassium chloride solution and crystals are attached to the exterior of the electrode, they should be removed at any time.
8. Because of the photolysis of the electrode of mercuric chloride and the potential change, the use and storage should pay attention to avoid light.
9. The double salt bridge saturated calomel electrode (type 217) with a jacket can be used as a general saturated calomel electrode if the jacket tube is removed. When determining samples susceptible to interference from K or Cl_, it is necessary to fill the outer casing with an appropriate solution. For example: 0.1 MLiAc for K with potassium electrode; 0.1 MKNO3 for Cl_ with chlorine electrode; 1 MKNO3 for S2 - with sulphur electrode; and so on.
