PrairyErth: (a Deep Map) is a 1991 book about Chase County, Kansas by American author William Least Heat-Moon. The author termed it a deep map, popularizing that term for an intensive look at a particular place that included discussion of geography, history, and ecology.

The author points out that if one would draw a line from New York City to San Diego and another line from Miami to Seattle it would intersect  at Chase County.  This is the land of prairie, grass, cattle and a few humans.  This is the Flint Hills of Kansas.
