A 3 1/2" tall miniature antique Fargo North Dakota stoneware beer mug.  This mug has a very detailed embossed picture of a Victorian era Court House and it has "GERMANY" incised on the base of it.  THIS mark ( GERMANY ) is the mark that antique dealer's look for on period items to prove their authenticity.  This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE antique little mug, well OVER ONE CENTURY OLD. 

• Mug Reads:   "Cass County / Court House. / Fargo N.D." and it has the number "98" (possibly for 1898) alongside the handle.   Base of mug is weakly incised / stamped "GERMANY".

• Condition:   Mug is in excellent condition.  NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc.  Please see pictures for overall condition.

• Age:   An ORIGINAL ANTIQUE, ca. Late 1800's - early 1900's.

A unique and historic miniature souvenir stoneware mug from olden day FARGO NORTH DAKOTA.   Little souvenir pieces like this were likely made to celebrate the opening of a business or in connection with local civics, the completion of a government building. These were sometimes sold in local mercantile stores, given away at the celebration, or even won at local carnival or fairs.  TRUE ANTIQUE  souvenir pieces like this are always popular among collectors as they (1) have the town and state on them that they are souvenirs from, (2) have colorful scenes, pictures, designs, logos on them, and (3) have a maker's mark or information on the back side which makes it easy to date them.  That is what is nice about this one, it has the 'Germany' mark on base, the mark that antique dealer's look for that authenticates that this is an antique.  If you looked into an old Polk City Directory from the FARGO, North Dakota region from the late 1800's - early 1900's, you could find out when the Cass County Court House was build and, in the process, date this mug and its place in history.
