Unique wood Shishi (mythical lion) , shrine guardian. Beautifully carved from cypress wood with attractive patination due to the age . Traditionally a pair of Shishi guardians would be posted at the entrances to the shrines or inner sanctums inside the temple. Truly unique and one-of-a-kind object. <ZC7>
