Product Description:

Listing Update...This is not so much an update as it is a brief comment about the computers and related parts I have available for sale. Personal computers (and in particular desktop computers) have always been a hobby of mine. I've enjoyed tinkering with this stuff over the years and have accumulated a number of items during this time...some new and some used. I am not an expert on the subject...more of an enthusiast...but I will still do my best to answer any questions as it relates to my computer related listings. Thank you.

Original Listing...
This offering is for a new AMD Ryzen 7 Model 3700X (8 cores / 16 threads) processor with third generation (Zen 2) micro-architecture. It's a higher-end third generation Ryzen processor that challenges Intel's similarly spec'd processors from this same era. For those that are interested, AMD's first generation (Zen) Ryzen 1XXX models launched in 2017, followed by the second generation "refresh" (Zen+) 2XXX series a year later. Ryzen third generation (Zen 2) 3XXX processors were released in the middle of 2019 and were considered the first true next generation micro-architecture (compared to their Ryzen descendants).

Compared to a second generation (Zen+) Ryzen 2700X, this offering has similar clock speed specifications (3.7 MHz to 3.6 MHz) on the "base" and (4.3 MHz to 4.4 MHz) on the "boost". Although, there are improvements to the IPC (instructions per clock), single-threaded performance, multi-threaded scaling, latency, and efficiency/power. These design enhancements are modest on their own, but their sum total is worthy of the next generation claims often used to describe this third generation (Zen 2) micro-architecture.

Some of the more notable features include the following...

  • Cores / Threads: 8 / 16

  • Clock Speed: 3.6 GHz (Base) and 4.4 GHz (Boost)

  • Die Size: 7 nm

  • CPU Socket: AM4

  • Codename / Micro-Architecture: Matisse / Zen 2

  • Cache (L1 / L2 / L3): 512 KB / 4 MB / 32 MB

  • TDP: 65W

  • Thermal Solution: Wraith Prizm Cooler w/RGB LED (included)

  • Other Notes: One of the benefits of these processors is their compatibility with older (400-series) and newer (500-series) motherboards. If I could choose, I would opt for a B450 or B550 motherboard to pair with this processor. It would not have to be a high-end variant of one of these motherboards, as this is a relatively low powered processor (unless you are "overclocking", then you will probably want a higher end motherboard with a more capable VRM to maximize this processor's overclocking potential). Additionally, I just like the feature set of the B-series motherboards a lot better than the stripped down A-series motherboards. As for the top-end X-series motherboards compatible with this processor, that's really not necessary, especially at a higher cost relative to B-series alternatives.

Having said all the above, I do want to confirm these processors on my shelf are new and still sealed in their original retail box. So a factory new Wraith Prizm cooler with RGB LEDs will also be included with each one of these processors. I can also confirm the pictures reflect the next (actual) processor to be sold and this includes close-up images of the processor UPC code and serial number. I'll end up listing them one-at-a-time, because I am not sure yet how many more I may use in computer builds at a later date.

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.

Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
