**** ~ ~ ~ WHEN TAEKWONDO STRIKES (1973) in ANGELA MAO - (VCD HONG KONG VERSION) ~ ~ ~ ****

DESCRIPTION : -

A forgotten gem from the golden age of kung fu movies, 1973's When Taekwondo Strikes (a.k.a. Sting of the Dragon Masters) is the only film to star the legendary Rhee Jhoon Goo, the Korean martial arts master credited with introducing taekwondo to America. Rhee was a personal friend of Golden Harvest's number one moneymaker, Bruce Lee, and the studio tailor-made When Taekwondo Strikes to showcase Rhee's skills. They also paired him up with the studio's top female action star, Angela Mao, who was fresh off her hits Lady Whirlwind and Hapkido. Like Rhee, Mao would develop a cult following of her own in the US, where her movies became grindhouse favorites in the 1970s.

During the Japanese occupation of Korea, Lee Cheng Tung (Rhee) leads an underground resistance movement which operates out of a Catholic church with the priest's blessing. After an outspoken demonstrator sought by the Japanese seeks sanctuary in the parish, the priest is arrested for harboring a fugitive. Lee and his fellow conspirator Sister Wong's (Mao) subsequent battle to free their friend eventually escalates into a major showdown between the Japanese and freedom fighters from all over Korea, China, and even America. But when Lee himself gets captured, Sister Wong has to go it alone against the Japanese karate masters (led by perennial Angela Mao punching bag Sammo Hung)...
