"Vultee Vangaurd for China"

Source: Air News Yearbook, published in 1943

Description Title:

"The Vanguard is now China's first-linefighter and the ship is capable of putting up a good scrap, even against the vaunted Zero. The ship is built around the general design of Howard Hughes' famous racing plane and was engineered by the same man, Dick Palmer. The Zero bears a striking resemblance to this plane in a number of ways, but only externally. The Vanguard is finely constructed, well-equipped and can absorb as much gunfire as 10 Zeros. The new Chinese Air Force should do well with this splendid ship.
The Vanguard is powered by a 1,200 hp Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp motor and has a speed of well over 350 mph and a high rate of climb. The wing span is 36', length 28' and height 9'5"."

Unique and distinctive. Suitable for framing.
