This is a vintage antique sample of barbed wire fencing.   This sample features a Joseph Glidden patent dated November 24, 1874.  This wire is called "Glidden's Two Point Barb Around Two of Three Lines - Factory Splice" by collectors. (ref Hagemeier 771-B).  This wire features three round line wires twisted together.  Two Line are same gauge and third line is heavier gauge.  Barbs are wrapped around both of the smaller lines.  Barbs are two pointed made by wrapping a round barbing wire twice around the two smaller lines. This sample also has a one line factory splice.    Wire sample shows light to moderate pitting.  There are four barbs.  Barbs are well spaced and cut is well centered.  There are no bend, broken or missing points.
